Interview with K’naan

I was lucky enough to be able to sit down with a rising hip-hop artist, K’naan Warsame, and discuss his growing up in Somalia, domestic violence, and women in hip-hop music.  Check out the interview and feel free to comment on it here or on Youtube…

when getting into marriage…”we need to be more prepared for OUR OWN short comings” subhanAllah… extremely true, why not preparing for what we ourselves lack rather than prepping for the worst form our spouse and circumstances that might arise with in-laws. Very intelligent man, mashAllah. May Allah(swt) help you in achieving your goals and help this organization raise the much needed awareness for domestic violence. making du’aa for the best. salam

Wow. If you’re reading this and you haven’t watched the interview, I highly recommend you hit play. K’naan is on a whole different level from most of the media darlings of the hip-hop world. Here is a soft-spoken man, with humility and an uplifting message that embraces all people. Enjoy. I know I did.

yeah K was definitely soft spoken and humble before, during and even after the interview…so much so that i was afraid that the camera might not pick up his voice…but it definitely was a pleasure sitting down and talking to him…hopefully we’ll have more interviews to come!
